It was decided to design a storage trolley due to a requirement in the Hirikilabs workspace, since there was no suitable piece of equipment in which to store and transport the different materials used in the workshop.
Functionality was the priority throughout the process, which began with data collection. The aim was to provide a concrete solution and to do this it was necessary to specify the real needs. Where would the trolley be kept? What kind of materials, and of what sizes and weights etc., were going to be stored? And in addition to storage, what other secondary functionalities might it provide?
Collection of this information was followed by thinking about the design of the equipment. Its dimensions were determined based on the workspace where it was going to be located and the storage material. In addition to these two functions specified so far, a third was identified, that of a work table.
Regarding the materials, wood was chosen as the basic component at the beginning and it was decided to continue the line of design initiated by the previous workshop. This led to the incorporation of the “gruyere” boards, which also made it possible to use all the accessories made by the rest of the work groups, and a separate accessory was designed to support the shelves. And to add a note of colour and enhance the design, it was decided to incorporate a piece of Perspex in fuchsia. Special emphasis was also placed on the simplicity of the assembly. In this regard, a toothed assembly was proposed that does not require drilling and that, in addition, provides considerable strength.
Step by step

- Several cuts of 1150×800 of 10mm according to the shelves that are required
- Half 3mm DM board to the work-surface
