The Women’s Open Choir Group has emerged from a basic citizen need for a collaborative
activity: to conceive a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for women which defends the
nuances of amateurism. The group gathers every Friday in the Living Room of Medialab
from 18.30 to 20.00.
activity: to conceive a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for women which defends the
nuances of amateurism. The group gathers every Friday in the Living Room of Medialab
from 18.30 to 20.00.
The participants meet to share knowledge of both traditional and modern songs from various countries, without necessarily having any previous experiences in choirs. The act of singing songs from different places in their original language together provides the possibility of tractioning topics such as multilingualism and cultural diversity. Additionally, the term ‘women’ has been utlised inclusively, meaning the group’s scope also includes individuals who identify with non-normative or non-binary gender identities. This group began to gather in 2022.
